The annual energy report of Google and Microsoft, two of the largest technology companies, was revealed. It was stated that each company consumed 24 terawatt-hours (TWh) of electricity in 2023. This figure is more than the total energy use of more than 100 countries.

According to a new study by an energy analysis firm, Google and Microsoft have set a global record, outpacing many countries. The 24 TWh consumed by the companies surpasses the electricity consumption of countries such as Azerbaijan, Iceland, Ghana and Tunisia.

The study highlights the energy needed by Google and Microsoft to power their data centers and services. Their electricity use also equals the energy consumption of Azerbaijan, a country of more than 10 million people.
